Capstone’s early childhood education and family services are central to its mission, offering center-based and home-based Head Start and Early Head Start programs that support positive child, family, and community outcomes that use a whole-child approach and actively engage parents as partners in their children’s early learning and development.
Position: Capstone’s center-based early childhood program in Morrisville is seeking a Teacher to work collaboratively with a team of other Teachers, Teaching Assistants, and Family Advocates to provide full-day, high-quality services in the Preschool Classroom. Qualifications: Preschool Teachers are required to hold at least a Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, or a graduate degree with coursework equivalent to an early childhood education-related major. A current Vermont Agency of Education teaching license with an endorsement in Early Childhood, Early Childhood Special Education, or Elementary Education is a strongly preferred qualification.
Competencies and other requirements for this position include:
- Excellent communication skills with both young children and adults.
- Demonstrated competency in engaging in effective, nurturing interactions with children.
- Ability to plan and implement appropriate, child-centered learning experiences.
- Familiarity with community resources and supportive services.
- Positive regard for and ability to engage with diverse populations and people with low incomes.
- Ability to meet physical demands of working with young children in a center-based setting, including regularly lifting 50-60 pounds; frequently standing, walking, climbing, stooping/bending, squatting/crouching; and occasionally running/sprinting.
- Commitment to leading and working collaboratively with a team toward shared goals and objectives.
Compensation & Benefits: This is a full-time, non-exempt position, with a 40-hour per week standard schedule and competitive pay at $22.67 – $26.56 per hour.
