Community Action Network Recognizes 60 Years of Service

May 1, 2024 marks the 60th year since the Community Action Network was established to help American families and communities overcome obstacles to poverty. Over 1,000 agencies across the country are working every day to create opportunities and transform the lives of their neighbors, making communities stronger and helping families across the United States thrive. This year, Capstone Community Action, a proud member of the Community Action Network, will also commemorate 59 years in service helping families throughout Central Vermont.

Each May, during Community Action Month, Capstone reflects on the varied impacts in our service area of Lamoille, Washington, Orange Counties along with nine surrounding towns in Addison, Rutland and Windsor Counties. We are fortunate to have a committed and collaborative network of volunteers, community partners, donors, and funders to make an impact. Last year alone, we served 11,492 individuals in 6,414 households through all our services and programs. You can learn about these impacts in our 2023 Annual Report.

Community Action Agencies serve 99% of all American counties with life-changing services to help families achieve financial stability. All agencies are locally controlled and represented by the private, public, and low-income sectors of the community.
